Old Man Bry

For the 100th day of school, Bryant's class dressed up like old people. I wanted him to pull his pants up really high, but he wouldn't! And we couldn't find the baby powder to make his hair look white. But I love the results just the same! He reminds me of my Grandaddy!

Where The Boys Are

So today was a taste of what it's gonna be like with the boys in school all day. It was quiet, and although I took it a little easy today, I still got more done than most days.

The morning was a little hectic, even after packing backpacks the night before and laying our their clothes... the boys were NOT in fast motion this morning! But we managed to get them ready and in the kitchen for breakfast... then they placed their orders with the cook (aka Mom) and Tres got his omelet... and Bryant got his cinnamon toast and grapes.

To be honest, Bryant did not want us to walk him in this morning, but we knew we wouldn't get to do it again, so it was our opportunity to and in that respect, he had no choice! :) Yeah, that silly boy just wanted his brother to take him in.

We got in and they took off... I mean, sorry if these pics are blurry, but they were on a mission to get to class!

Bryant was in the lead, but Tres was playing his big brother role very well!

We made it to his class and Bryant was ready to dive in...

Thank God I caught this moment!! We are excited about both of their classes.

He had no problems! He remembered where his chair was, where to hang his backpack and we quizzed him on his lunch number all morning, so I'm pretty sure we got that too.

We saw him in, with only a tear or two sitting in my eye (it's hard to be sad when he is so stinkin' excited!)... and turned around to get pics of Tres going into his room, and all I saw was his dust... he was already in his room! No time for pics, Mom!

As we were walking out, Sophie kept saying, 'Wet's get outta he-ah!'

After they got off, we came back home. Then Hank went to work, and about 30 minutes later, Soph went down for her nap. Her nap time was soooo long to me... I guess a quiet house equals a good long nap! :) But when she woke up, she went around the house calling 'my boys' until we left to get them!

They had a good day! Bry said his favorite part was basketball and pizza... ummm... I hope he's learning something! Smile!

Tres said he saw kids he knew from last year and that he felt good about that. He also came home with a thick stack of papers that he already did today! I mean, a ton of stuff! He was pleased, I think... but this kid loves to learn.

All in all... a very satisfying day!

Mom's Start of School Prayer

We took the boys to drop off school supplies, meet their teachers and get lunch accounts and car rider info situated today.
First of all, can I just say, these two boys should still be babies, right?? I mean, I am so not ready for them to grow up...

Tres is quiet this time around... I can't tell if he is nervous or if he is just letting his little brother enjoy all of his own firsts. The only time I see him get really excited is when he is telling or showing Bryant something about school.

Bryant on the other hand is bouncing with excitement! He is full-steam-ahead, no-turning-back, and definately no-crying-for-Mommy-and-Daddy ready for school!

I think what is helping me get through my baby boy starting school is knowing that his big brother is literally down the hall (their classes ended up on the same one!! Yea!). They will walk to class together each morning, and Tres told me he would make sure Bryant got to his class.

I'm making myself cry just thinking about that. I love my boys so much. And I absolutley adore the fact that they love one another so completely.

Thank you, Lord for my boys! Give them open minds this year, Father. Guide their steps... guard their hearts... keep them safe. And, Lord, I ask you to help my boys grow closer every year. It's hard, Lord to trust someone else with both of my babies, all day long. I know you had my babies in mind when they were being assigned to these classes. I know what they will learn this year will go with them and grow with them as they develop into men of character... men of God. I ask you to be with Mrs. Richardson, Mrs. Hutter, and Mrs. Wildman (aka Mrs. WILD MAN!) as they will be 'the other women' in my sons' lives. I love you, Lord... and I am deciding right now to leave this at your feet.

Field Day

Tres's school had field day the Friday before school let out. Hank and I made a point of being there.
One happy little boy! We are so very proud of him.

I liked this event a lot! The kids pulled the teacher across a field, competing with other classes. Tres's class won!! Could have something to do with his little tiny teacher! She's so cute.

The water relay. They had to fill a bucket up by relaying water from one end to the other. Tres was funny... she was so into it, he was yelling, then he settled into a routine, and propped his hand on his hip.

Field hockey... he looks pretty natural, doesn't he!

In the sack races, the kids had a blast, but this is where they started to wear out a bit! Tres ended up falling at the end and just kicking off the sack to the next kid in line. But he never stopped smiling!

Refreshment time!! This probably took the longest.

Waiting on Tres to get and eat his refreshments.

Tres, Andrew, and Elmer. Elmer was funny. He refused to get wet and was one of the neatest little boys I've ever met!

Tug of war! His class won this too.

There were more events and we have more pictures, but our internet is down. I'm at Mom's posting this from the pics I had already downloaded and saved!

Pre-K Musical

Bryant's K-4 class had a musical program on his last day of school. The musical was about Noah and the Ark and all the kids wore rain jackets. I thought it was so cute... they interlaced telling the story with songs and when the music teacher was telling the story, the kids had cues to do motions and shout things out... it was so cute!

Some of you may even know this little diddy! Sing along, if you like. I just love how expressive Bryant is!

We all thought he did super good! Yeah, Bry!

Tres's Christmas Program

Tres had his school Christmas program last weekend. He did so good, and I was a proud Momma! He got to play the bells, and not every kid got to do that.

Tres also got to give his teacher her gift... which was a goody bag of CVS items we've been putting together for a while.I wish we could have done more. I just love his teacher, and he does too. Truth be told, I think he has a little crush on her! He also made her a necklace and a keychain (an idea that I got from Gretchen's blog!).

Bryant's Day

So yesterday, Bryant declared the 'worst day evah!' We got to the doctor around 2 and my little brown eyed cutie fell asleep waiting on the doctor. I took a picture of him on my cell and sent it to daddy. He was awake one minute and asleep the next. We found out officially (cause I already knew) that he had a severe double ear infection. He has an appointment with an ENT in the morning to schedule tubes.

His ears were literally pouring and draining all day yesterday. It was nasty. He had to get a shot. I was so sad for him when he realized what was coming. He kept saying, 'Will the pointy thing go all the way in my knee?" All the while crying and saying he didn't want it. But about halfway home, he seemed to get his personality back and by that night was just grouchy from lack of sleep.

It was an early night, and thankfully, everyone slept peacefully. Here he is this morning as we prepared to head to his Thanksgiving Musical program. Notice the cotton in either ear. He couldn't hear all that well, but he did so good! I was super proud of him. He got up there and did all of his motions and sang all of the songs with a big smile on his face! This was my personal favorite... just a little warning for the turkey!

Bryant is on the second row from the bottom.
You should have seen all of us Mom's doing the motions in the audience! Funny stuff! Sophie thought it was great seeing her brother up on stage. But up until she saw him, nothing would distract her. She wanted down and she wanted to walk around!!Here's Miss Priss waving to Bry-Bry!Our very own Pilgrim.

After the show, we got to have some pie and visit with his teacher and some of his little friends.Bryant's teacher, Miss Mandy, is the best. She's so sweet and kind!

Birthday at School

Tres was the Star Student yesterday since it was his birthday! I got to take snacks into his class. I let Tres pick out the special snack, and we ended up bringing in apple dippers, cheese sticks, and YooHoo drink boxes.Tres thought it was cool that Sophie got to come to his snack time too! He even shared his apples with her. One of Tres's little classmates, came up to me and said, "Tres never told us he had a baby!" That made me laugh!Sophie was like a Super Star in there... all the kids wanted to touch her and talk to her and make her laugh. I mean, they swarmed her like she was a super star and they were the paparazzi!

Bry Goes To School

Bry started K-4! We have a picture of Hank with Tres just like this from last year when Tres started... we wanted to do one like it, so we can maybe frame them all together once Soph starts, too!

We took him into his school the first day and he was so cute with his big brown eyes. He kept asking us if this was his school now. Tres went there last year, so that's where he got that from.He showed us around his class a little. Then we checked to see how his flower with the colored water did.It was a little wilted but it was definitely tinted red!! There were some that were absolutely gorgeous! I'm gonna have to keep that in mind for future use.

The Speed of Life

Well, if this week is any indication of things to come for the year, I may not be blogging as much as normal! Sigh... It's been a bit hectic, but good.

Monday, Tres started back to school, while I struggled to get stuff done around the house with two extra shadows, one of whom wanted me to 'play with him' all the time now that brother is unavailable. I'm doing my best to balance that with not letting our home get completely nasty! On Monday evening Tres started soccer practice. He is extremely excited about his team, the Cobras! There are even three kids on his team from his school, so that helps a lot.Even Bryant enjoyed himself at practice! And when he started getting a little bored, I gave him a photo assignment. I'll have to post some of his assignments soon. They are always interesting.

Tuesday, I had to take Sophie girl to Children's for a sweat chloride test.

Let me explain. When I took her in for her one-year check-up, she was in the twentieth percentile, when her nine month check-up had her in the twenty-fifth percentile. So they wanted to make sure that nothing was amiss medically. And guess what??? Nothing was... she's just an itty bitty bundle of attitude! :)

Two more things were going on Monday and Tuesday. The first was my Dad and Hank began working on remodeling our front bathroom. We now have a new countertop, double vanities with new faucets, and a new paint color.
We plan to tile it soon, frame out the mirror, and add crown molding. Add that to the already updated light fixtures, painted cabinets and new hardware, and I'm pleased to say that our bath is gonna be awesome! The seond was that I began feeling badly.

Wednesday, Bryant and I headed over to his school to Orientation.
I was a little worried that since he had never been in a school situation outside of Tres's experience that he would be a little attached, but he wasn't.
He was excited and eager... breaking my fragile Mom's heart just a little more. I know... it's a bit melodramatic, but it's sort of true. I went to a parent meeting while he met his teacher and classmate. He has been talking about it ever since, and has been telling me about 'planting' a flower in color water. His teacher says it will turn his flower red. Cool, huh?
Then, I had to invest in some new clothes for myself... since I begin teaching my class next week, I want to make a good impression. The plans for my class are coming right along. I am so excited about it and keep coming up with fun stuff that I would like to do, too. The problem will be fitting it all in! Ha!
Also, on Wednesday, my brother turned 29, and we celebrated with a noisy chaotic family dinner that was great! I love those kind! The cupcakes were yummy, and the kids got to ice and decorate their own. But my brother decided to start an icing war and 4 of us (yes, including me) ended up with a face full of strawberry icing! Sorry, I did not get pictures of that. I was too busy defending myself, since my husband was being Matt's accomplice!

On Thursday, Tres had soccer again and then it was straight to Praise Team practice for me.

Friday was catch up day in our house... laundry, laundry, and more laundry. Then when Tres was home, I made a trip to CVS. The CVS's in our area are a test market and are trying out running the adds from Friday to Thursday. I don't like it. It messes up my routine, and it means that if I want a chance at getting the good deals, I gotta go with my kids. Ugh!! It was a frustrating trip. But... this is about $125 worth of stuff for right around $5.50. Then we went to Target... and that's where my frazzled nerves gave up on me. I could not handle corralling two boys overly excited about the weekend any longer. We came home.

Now, we are trying to finish the bathroom and still get in some good family time. I know that Hank plans to take the boys to see The Clone Wars at some point... and I know that I need to exchange some pants for Tres at Belk, but other than that... no set plans.
