Back to School Bash!

Over the weekend, we took the kids to a back to school bash! We were so busy chasing our kids around that we didn't get a ton of pictures, but we did capture a few moments!

Ava Sophia got her face painted! She sat so still and was so serious! Her only request was that it be 'pupple.'

There were inflatables and candy and food and crafts... my kids had a blast and never quite slowed down! In fact, I didn't have one picture of Tres!! He was too busy.

After the activities, Crosslife had a production called 'Worship Star,' which spun off of the idea of American Idol. The host was supposed to be Ryan Teethcrest, but instead last year's winner Carry Understood filled in! It was all about finding someone who offered true worship to the big 'Dawg.' Contestants were Anna Fantana, Beyond Saved, and others. It was funny and the kids had a blast!

Future's So Bright

Every time Ava Sophia takes a bath, she insists on putting on her sunglasses... I mean EVERY TIME! It's cute, and we just don't want to forget! Smile!

I took Sophie in for her 2 year check-up this week. I knew that she had gotten a little taller, because some of her 12 month dresses were getting shorter. But the good thing about that is little girl's dresses easily convert to longer shirts! This is her while we waited on the nurse to get us at the doctor's office. She stands and studies the fish and says over and over and over again, "Momma, it's Nemo! It's Dory, Momma!" Did I mention that she says it over and over? :)

Anyway, I was hoping that she had at least made her way onto the percentile scale that 'they' (the medical community, I'm assuming) say that children need to be at the top of. But, it wasn't meant to be! My 'itty bitty' weighed in at 21.6 lbs, keeping her under the curve again. She did make it onto the scale for heighth, though! She is in the.... wait for it... 5th percentile for heighth! She had to get a shot, but only one, so the sucker at the check out made her all better.

Old Friends are the Best!

The day before school started, we got to go and spend some time with some of my friends from high school. It has been fun over the years to keep up with these ladies, and see them become wives and mothers. Time goes by to quickly, but there are sweet moments of development for us all! Here are a few pics I snapped of the day.

Ben, Becky's little cutie! He was talking on the princess phone, and chauffering Ariel around for a while. He made me smile.

Everyone took turns driving and riding in this car. Here is Sophie taking a look under the hood.

Amy Lee's youngest daughter, Elianna, was ready for a nap and no one would do for that job except for her Mommy! Amy's Mom was there was was holding her and she was fussy, but the minute-- or should I say nano second-- Amy Lee took her, she nestled in and went straight to sleep! It was so sweet and a testiment to the Mother-child bond! :)

Tres took Kaylin on a spin around the driveway. It kind of gave us a glimpse of what the future could hold... dating, driving, and other things that we don't want to think about yet!

Here is Carla with her youngest daughter, Hannah! Hannah made me smile too. She kept playing with me!

Between the 5 of us that could make it, we had 12 kids there that day! It was loud, fun, and chaotic at times... an absolute blast!!

Publix Deals

A friend of mine asked me how much I spend on groceries a week, and I told her about $30 bucks. She seemed shocked, so I sent her this picture today to show her what $30 at Publix looks like to me:

Mostly perishables and snack items for lunches. Not bad, I think... but I've done way better!

Where The Boys Are

So today was a taste of what it's gonna be like with the boys in school all day. It was quiet, and although I took it a little easy today, I still got more done than most days.

The morning was a little hectic, even after packing backpacks the night before and laying our their clothes... the boys were NOT in fast motion this morning! But we managed to get them ready and in the kitchen for breakfast... then they placed their orders with the cook (aka Mom) and Tres got his omelet... and Bryant got his cinnamon toast and grapes.

To be honest, Bryant did not want us to walk him in this morning, but we knew we wouldn't get to do it again, so it was our opportunity to and in that respect, he had no choice! :) Yeah, that silly boy just wanted his brother to take him in.

We got in and they took off... I mean, sorry if these pics are blurry, but they were on a mission to get to class!

Bryant was in the lead, but Tres was playing his big brother role very well!

We made it to his class and Bryant was ready to dive in...

Thank God I caught this moment!! We are excited about both of their classes.

He had no problems! He remembered where his chair was, where to hang his backpack and we quizzed him on his lunch number all morning, so I'm pretty sure we got that too.

We saw him in, with only a tear or two sitting in my eye (it's hard to be sad when he is so stinkin' excited!)... and turned around to get pics of Tres going into his room, and all I saw was his dust... he was already in his room! No time for pics, Mom!

As we were walking out, Sophie kept saying, 'Wet's get outta he-ah!'

After they got off, we came back home. Then Hank went to work, and about 30 minutes later, Soph went down for her nap. Her nap time was soooo long to me... I guess a quiet house equals a good long nap! :) But when she woke up, she went around the house calling 'my boys' until we left to get them!

They had a good day! Bry said his favorite part was basketball and pizza... ummm... I hope he's learning something! Smile!

Tres said he saw kids he knew from last year and that he felt good about that. He also came home with a thick stack of papers that he already did today! I mean, a ton of stuff! He was pleased, I think... but this kid loves to learn.

All in all... a very satisfying day!

Mom's Start of School Prayer

We took the boys to drop off school supplies, meet their teachers and get lunch accounts and car rider info situated today.
First of all, can I just say, these two boys should still be babies, right?? I mean, I am so not ready for them to grow up...

Tres is quiet this time around... I can't tell if he is nervous or if he is just letting his little brother enjoy all of his own firsts. The only time I see him get really excited is when he is telling or showing Bryant something about school.

Bryant on the other hand is bouncing with excitement! He is full-steam-ahead, no-turning-back, and definately no-crying-for-Mommy-and-Daddy ready for school!

I think what is helping me get through my baby boy starting school is knowing that his big brother is literally down the hall (their classes ended up on the same one!! Yea!). They will walk to class together each morning, and Tres told me he would make sure Bryant got to his class.

I'm making myself cry just thinking about that. I love my boys so much. And I absolutley adore the fact that they love one another so completely.

Thank you, Lord for my boys! Give them open minds this year, Father. Guide their steps... guard their hearts... keep them safe. And, Lord, I ask you to help my boys grow closer every year. It's hard, Lord to trust someone else with both of my babies, all day long. I know you had my babies in mind when they were being assigned to these classes. I know what they will learn this year will go with them and grow with them as they develop into men of character... men of God. I ask you to be with Mrs. Richardson, Mrs. Hutter, and Mrs. Wildman (aka Mrs. WILD MAN!) as they will be 'the other women' in my sons' lives. I love you, Lord... and I am deciding right now to leave this at your feet.

Ava Sophia ~ 2 Years Old

Where to start with our tiny dancer? Ava Sophia completed our family 2 years ago at 10:34 am. She is full of life, makes us laugh often, and while she gives us our fair share of frustration, the good far, far outweighs the bad! Here are a few things we want to remember about our Sophia Girl!

~ She gives her Daddy an equally enthusiastic welcome when he comes home from work... just as enthusiastic as her brothers
~ She calls her brothers, "my boys"
~ She has a horrendous fake laugh... well, here, check it out for yourself... I mean it's bad, but it makes us laugh just the same

~ She runs really funny... most of the time with her arms straight at her sides
~ She gets very, very serious when she is trying to tell you something and she can't get us to understand.
~ She has an EXTENSIVE vocabulary for a two-year-old
~ She gets on to Tres a lot
~ She tattles on Bryant even more
~ She is most happy when both of 'her boys' are playing with her!

~ She is very possessive of anything she likes... she will say, "Dis is me my toy!" ~ She can count to 5, and when she feels like it all the way to 11. And 11 is her favorite number to throw in randomly! :)
~ When she is done performing a trick, like counting, she will bow her head, close her eyes, and say "Tank you much!"
~ She has no fear. And this scares us.
~ If you are not paying attention to her while she is talking to you, she will physically turn your head with her little hands.
~ She is so very stingy with her kisses... but every now and then she will give you a kiss for no apparent reason, and those kisses are so very sweet!
~ She loves baby dolls and Barbies (or 'Darbies' in her world)
~ She can get entranced in Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in a split second.
~ She loves to dress up and look 'pitty'
~ She makes me paint her fingernails and toenails about once a week (between you and me... it really isn't a hardship!)

~ Her favorite 'pincess' is Ariel and she loves to play in the pool like she is Ariel or Flounder and I am Ursela
~ I like that she calls Sleeping Beauty 'seeping cootie'
~She got her ears pierced and her first pair of earrings shorly after Christmas. In Spring, she lost one, and I was able to wrestle another one in that ear... but it took nearly 3 months to get the other one out and the matching earring in!

~When I made a list of things I wanted to remember about Soph at age 1, and posted it here with pictures, she was wearing the same tutu outfit... which brings me to my next point! She is little for her age and we love it!
~ Her nicknames are 'Itty Bitty,' 'Tart 'n' Tiny' 'Sophia,' 'Sophie,' and 'Sophie Girl.'
~ She is strong willed and stubborn, and while I know those will be admirable traits as she gets older, they are tough to overcome at 2!
~ She is learning her colors now! She doesn't get them right all the time, but she tries!

Okay... that's about it for now... if you have something about her you would like to add, please feel free to do so in the comments section! There is so much and it's hard to remember it all!

Happy Birthday, Itty Bitty! I don't know what we would do without you. You bring fun, chaos, and laughter and we absolutely adore you.

PS She loves her daddy, but she's still a Momma's girl! :)

For all you BB fans

One of my top 3 LEAST favorite cast members reminded Hankie of someone right off the bat...
I know it's a small picture, but see if you see the resemblence too!

Beaker from the muppets!
