How Descriptive Can I Get?

So we're riding to Tres's school. It's about a three minute trip. The kids are all piled in on this gray, dreary morning since Daddy had to be at work by 6:30 and won't be home until 11 tonight. I remember feeling so bad for him as he kissed me goodbye this morning. He smelled so nice, and I could hear the rain on the rooftop. Anyway, I digress.

Bryant was in the back with Sophie telling knock, knock jokes that made little to no sense.

Bryant: Knock, knock!
Us: Who's There?
Bryant: Banana Split
Us: Banana Split who?
Bryant: Banana Split went over the moon and in your shoes!
Mom: That's pretty creative Bryant.
Tres: That doesn't make sense Bry.
Bryant: {Who turns for moral support to his captive audience in the seat beside him} Was that funny Sophie {he says in his best your the baby and I'm the adult voice}? Was that funny?
Sophie: Cool! {Then she forces out the worst fake laugh in the world!}

We were all laughing as we turned into the school. The rain obviously has made a lot of people late, cause the line is long today. I can usually drive right up and drop him off. But we sit, and Tres is telling me all about Jerry the Elf in his class and how he is in a different place every day. He makes a prediction as to where he will be today. Then as I am pulling up to drop him off, I smell this hideous smell and look over to see streams of milk, cereal, and last night's shrimp, corn and broccoli being projected out of my 6-year-old's mouth. At first, I encouraged him to catch it on his raincoat... but that quickly became a loosing battle. It is now in a proud, stinking, steaming pile on the floorboard of my van.

So, I pull right on through the drop off and make that normally three minute trip back home a two minute ride. Commentary on the return trip was a bit different. I took a look in my rearview mirror and saw Bryant desperately holding his nose and trying to teach Sophie how to do it. Sophie just smiled at Bry, apparently not effected by the horrible stench. "I smell it Mom," Bryant informs me, "and it smells weally, weally bad!"

I pull into the garage, get Tres out and stripped down (thank GOD the washer was empty!). We threw his clothes straight into the washer on hot on a heavy duty cycle... then as I stood at the washer I knew what I must do. I turned slowly around and faced my old foe... up chuck in the car... we meet again.

I grabbed up some cleaners and battled my own gag reflex as I wiped, scrubbed and rinsed that van floor.

Now I'm left to wonder if this wonderful bug will spread to my other two children... and also left doing an internal check because like any self respecting Mom, I finished Tres's cereal when he was done this morning. Sigh.

I'm Tying A Ribbon Around My Finger

I just want to remember these moments before they slip away forever.

Bryant answers most questions with a "Yes, yes!" I know to most people it's not all that interesting, but it makes me smile every time, and I don't want to forget it.

After soccer the other night, Tres pointed at the sky and said, "Mom! Look! Stars! We need to make a wish!" Then he got a little pensive and pouty and said, "None of my wishes ever come true." I was laughing on the inside cause he wishes for giant bowls of ice cream and a visit from Superman sometimes. Then Bryant turned his big brown eyes on me and asked, "Do wishes come true, Momma?" And without hesitation and I looked at two of my three greatest wishes in the eyes and told him, "Yes, baby. Wishes DO come true."

Tres asked me to take him on a date soon. He says he wants some 'Mommy Time.'

Bad, Bad Mommy

Tres was named Star Student of the Month last week at school, and came home proudly wearing a blue ribbon pinned to his shirt. He kept it on all weekend. I meant to, but never did take a picture of him with the ribbon... and now, well, let's just say that the ribbon fought the washer, and the washer won.Bad...bad mommy.

Just One Of Those Days...

...when everything seems a bit haphazard. You know what I mean?? Well, if you don't, let me give you a couple of examples.

EXAMPLE #1:
I felt I was doing pretty well with time management yesterday, so when I put Sophie down for her morning nap, I decided to jump in the shower and {GASP!} shave my legs! Now, I still try to get through it pretty quick so I can make the most of the nap time. So when I got out and started getting dressed, you can imagine my disappointment when I realized that I had shaved the same leg twice. So I'm half werewolf/half woman at the moment! :) And the part that's so aggrevating to me is that I will never get that time back! Hank says he is going to start shaving only half of his face. And this is NOT the first time I've pulled this stunt either.

EXAMPLE #2:
This one is a bit more embarrassing to me. Last night, the kids were sort of all pulling me in different directions. Bryant was still not acting like his normal self and was asking for medicine so he could go to bed. Tres wanted me to make him a pallet on the floor next to Bry (they like to do this occassionally, and I think it's because they like to be closer to each other), and Sophie needed her breathing treatment, a bath, to be fed, and put to bed. So I got Sophie bathed before Bry starts in again on how "me wants to go to bbbeeedddd!" Such words never pass his lips, so I'm guessing I just rushed through getting Sophie ready and in her sleeper. Then I went and got Bry his medicine and got him tucked in.... made Tres a pallet, and got him tucked in. Soph got her good night kisses and we headed into her room to get her fed and sleeping.
This morning, I couldn't beleive it when I woke up at 8:45!! Soph normally gets up around 6 or 7 to eat. Anyway, I was praising Jesus, and went in to get her. I picked her up and noticed she left damp. Not totally unusual, but I thought maybe I had not fastened her diaper tight enough. I unzipped her sleeper, and was astonished to find the child going commando!! Then I look at the bottom of her changing table, and there sitting as neat as you please was the diaper I had obviously not put on my child the night before. It seemed to be saying, "I've been waiting here all night." I went and checked her bed, only to discover it was saturated. Man did I feel like a loser, but I was laughing and already wording how I was going to share it with you guys.

Let's call that 'Documented Frazzled Mommy Moment #1.' I classify it as 'documented' because there are a ton more that will go with me to the grave!:)
