A Little Catchin' Up To Do!

I've been neglecting my blog and I'm sorry! Life has been hectic, but what else is new, huh? Three kids... we're outnumbered... what can I say! :)

School is in a nice groove, although both boys are already counting down the days until Summer vacation starts! Tres says he wants to sleep longer almost every morning, then follows that immediately with, 'How many days till Summer?'

Volleyball is fun! Coaching with Hank is a lot of fun. I will admit that I was sort of nervous about it... with me being the one with the volleyball knowledge and him being my assistant. I wasn't sure how it would translate on the court. But I feel like we are learning how to communicate on a different level... and we're working towards the same goal. I have to admit... I like being the boss too! Ha!Here is our team... they named themselves the Black Widows. Funny stuff. In our second tournament, we came in second in a three match game. Man what a hard loss! We are gearing up for another tournament next weekend.

My 31st birthday came and went with little fanfare, which is kind of how I like it these days! Hank went and got some breakfast for me that morning, and the boys gave me the third season of 'The Office' (my latest favorite show). Then that night, we went to eat at the new Japanese steakhouse in town. It was so so good!Sophie loves her babies... she takes really good care of them until she's just done and decides to throw them down, usually on their heads. My parents, sister Jennie, and friend Kelly came with us.It was a lot of fun... but at the end of the night, they started playing something remniscent of disco music with a birthday message while multi-colored balls lit up the room and they brought out a version of Japanese birthday cake...... it was interesting and not at all my idea of an acceptable birthday cake! :) Still waiting on that one.

This weekend we are finishing up the bathroom/laundry room addition to our house so things are hectic still. Heck, it's taken me two days to get this blogged!

Oh, and if you get a chance, stop over and meet Eric and Jennifer's new baby boy Corban, born yesterday at 10:06 am. Such a sweet little boy!

sick, sick, sick

My family had been battling a lot of crud lately and I'm just plain tired of it!! Bed time can NOT come fast enough tonight.

Bryant battled ear infections for two weeks... three antibiotics and two different kinds of ear drops later he seems to be okay.

Sophie is, I believe, trying to cut her eye teeth in. She ran a very high fever on Monday and decided to up-chuck at the kitchen table on Tuesday morning.

So when Tres came into our room last night complaining of an ear ache, I wasn't surprised. He was up and down (as were Hank and I) all night crying and complaining of pain. We alternated meds and tried to keep him comfortable, but he was pretty darn miserable.

I took him to the doctor today and about an hour before the appointment, he began hurting so bad he was sobbing, so I took my happy little butt up to the doctor early and made them take us back quicker... which they did cause they are great there! :)

He is much more comfortable now and is on an antibiotic. This is his first ear infection in over a year, so hopefully we can just nip it in the bud. He told me today that he caught Bryant's allergies. And then when Bry came home from school, Tres pointed his finger at him and said, "You gave me your ear infection!" It made me laugh.

Black Widows

This past weekend, Hank and I traveled to Nashville to coach our team, the Black Widows (who named themselves because the socks they chose have a spider web pattern on them), in a tournament.

I was super impressed with them!! They pulled together so well. Not only are they developing as a team, but they are all becoming friends and I like to see that! I remember developing some long lasting friendships from club ball.

And I would like to annouce that the Black Widows placed second in the tournament!!! We played in the championship match and should have won, really! Nevertheless... we are so very proud of them!

I also had a blast with my husband. We haven't had a trip with no kids in... well, I don't think I could tell you how long... and it was much needed! We went to dinner, watched The Office, laughed a lot, and even held hands a little :)

Life is good.

What Did You Call Me?

Sophie's vocabulary is very impressive. She 'talks' nonstop and we have a lot of fun listening to her try new words daily!

Hot dog, ice cream, mine (that's a fun one), Tres, Bry, Mom, Dad, play, drink, bite, shoes, diaper....

But one of my favorite's is apple... or " AH- Hole."

My kids

When we were on our way home from Atlanta last weekend, we stopped at a McDonalds that had a killer outside playplace. The kids played and played and we just let them. They were tired of being in the car, in a buggy, or in the hospital. So being able to let out some energy was a nice change for them that day! Now, all you Mom's know how hard it is at this age to get all kids smiling and looking in the same direction, so I was proud of this!

Back Surgery & IKEA

This past weekend, we made a trip over to Hank's sister's house and spent a night. Then we headed over to Atlanta to see his Dad who had surgery on his back. I don't remember the exact reason, but in simple terms, he had a broken back. He looked pretty good considering and didn't complain much... I mean, I would have been, I think! He has a long recovery ahead, so if you think about it, say a prayer for him.

After he was discharged we had nothing really planned, but discovered we were only 11 miles from IKEA, so we headed over. How fun!! We checked the boys into their store play area complete with a huge ball pit, coloring station, games, and room to run! Then Hank and I headed up to the first floor. After an hour we had made it through the first floor, but not very thoroughly. We had to pick the boys up, so we went down, got them and then looked on the lower level... this time even less thoroughly than the first floor. We ended up with a couple of light fixtures and some household odds and ends... and plans to come back sans (without) kids! :)

It was a fun, slow paced weekend and I had so much fun!
